Precision Dentistry with High—Powered Microscopes
Dentistry is a form of micro-surgery, and the level of precision it requires is difficult to achieve with the naked eye alone. Our practice uses high-powered microscopes, similar to those used by ophthalmologists, to help our doctors create dental restorations with an exceptionally precise fit and finish. Beyond magnification, these microscopes also direct a focused beam of light directly onto the tooth being treated, minimizing glare and improving visibility during your procedure.
We also use electric hand-pieces rather than traditional air-driven drills for the most precise aspects of restorative treatment. Air-powered hand-pieces have a degree of non-concentricity, meaning they do not rotate perfectly smoothly, which can add vibration and noise to your procedure. Electric hand-pieces rotate with far greater precision, creating a more exact interface between your tooth and your new restoration, whether that is a crown, veneer or filling. For you, this often means a quieter, more comfortable appointment with less vibration.
CEREC Same—Day Crowns and Restorations
For patients who need a crown, our office offers CEREC technology, an advanced system that allows us to design, create and place a custom restoration in a single appointment. Rather than sending impressions to an outside lab and having you return weeks later for a permanent crown, CEREC uses digital scanning and in-office milling to produce a precise, tooth-colored restoration while you wait.

Digital Imaging for Accurate Diagnosis
Our doctors carefully choose which radiographs to take and when, following established clinical guidelines designed to protect patient safety while gathering the diagnostic information needed for accurate treatment planning. Radiographs allow us to see what cannot be detected during a standard visual exam, including cavities between teeth, bone level and bone health, root and nerve conditions, cysts or tumors, and damage from trauma.
At PM Dental Care, we use digital imaging technology throughout our office. Compared to traditional film-based radiographs, digital imaging reduces exposure time by about 50 percent and often provides clearer diagnostic detail, helping our doctors identify cavities and other concerns more effectively. Digital images are also easy to store securely and can be transferred quickly to specialists or insurance companies when needed.

Digital X-rays offer more precision since we view the image on a computer monitor, instead of holding up a 35mm film up to the light. Digital X-rays results in 1/6th the radiation exposure to you.
Laser Dentistry for a Gentler Experience
For patients who feel anxious about needles, drilling or numbness, laser dentistry can offer a more comfortable alternative. Laser dentistry uses focused energy in the form of light, delivered at different wavelengths depending on the treatment goal. This energy is absorbed by a specific target, which may be enamel, decay, gum tissue or whitening enhancers, while other wavelengths are reflected. This allows our doctors to treat both tooth and soft tissue concerns with a high degree of control.
In many cases, laser treatment does not require local anesthesia. Unlike a traditional dental drill, laser dentistry produces no heat or vibration, making procedures more comfortable for most patients. For soft tissue and surgical procedures, laser dentistry can also eliminate the need for sutures, often leading to faster healing.
Lasers can even be used to diagnose cavities in their earliest stages, sometimes before they are visible to the eye. In some cases, early decay identified this way can be reversed through improved hygiene and fluoride treatment, potentially avoiding the need for a filling altogether.
Intraoral Camera Technology for Clearer Diagnosis
Many of our patients, especially younger ones, are already comfortable with technology and used to processing information visually through computers and screens. Our doctors use intraoral camera technology to help you better understand your own diagnosis and treatment plan.
An intraoral camera is a very small device, in some cases just a few millimeters long, that allows our team to capture clear, detailed images of your mouth, teeth and gums. These enlarged, well-defined images can reveal details that might be missed during a standard mirror examination, often leading to a faster diagnosis and less time spent in the chair.
Intraoral camera images are also saved as a permanent record in our office system, and can be printed or shared with specialists, dental labs or insurance companies as needed.
